THE PORTRAIT

– a painting, drawing, photograph, or engraving of a person, especially one depicting only the face or head and shoulders.

FOR THIS BRIEF, I WANTED TO SHOW A DIFFERENT SIDE OF ME.

USUALLY, I TAKE PICTURES OF THINGS, BUILDINGS OR CHILDREN. I DO NOT LIKE TO TAKE PICTURES OF PEOPLE ABOVE 13 YEARS OLD. HOWEVER, I DECIDED TO BREAK THIS RULE. I LOOKED AT ARTISTS WHO ARE ABLE TO EXPRESS EMOTIONS IN A CERTAIN AND UNIQUE WAY. I COULDN’T DECIDE WHO SHOULD BE MY INSPIRATION FOR THIS BRIEF. HOWEVER, MY HEART WAS CAPTURE BY BAILEY’S BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHY THATS WHY I CHOSEN HIM.

DAVID BAILEY

2 January 1937

English fashion and portrait photographer. David Bailey is a huge fan of portraits. He sees people as unique, and desire to photograph them is stronger than everything.

Over the decades since his Sixties heyday, Bailey has become a fixture in British culture. He’s directed commercials and documentaries, featured in advertising campaigns.

Bailey uses a white background which has became his signature move. He is not first, and probably not the last photographer who uses this colour.

However, his photographs are different. They contain soul and intimacy. In my opinion, he captures a part of the objects’ souls inside the frame.

“I think we created each other,You can’t create a portrait by yourself. I always tell people it’s them taking the photograph, not me. For me it’s always about the people. I’ve never been interested in trees or mountains much. I admire Ansel Adams, but I’ve never been a big fan of what he does. Really it’s just another f—— tree, isn’t it?”-Bailey

REMBRANDT

15 July 1606-4 October 1669

REMBRANDT WAS A DUTCH PAINTER AND PRINTMAKER. HE IS CONSIDERED A MASTER ANS ONE IN A KIND. IN HIS ARTWORK HE WORKS A LOT WITH THE LIGHT AND CONTRAST. I PERSONALLY CONSIDER HIM AS MY ROLE MODEL IN A WORD OF ART. WHILE TAKING ANY PHOTOGRAPHS I CONSIDER LIGHTING A LOT, I LIKE TO PLAY WITH IT AND EXPERIMANTE. TO MY FINAL PHOTOGRAPHS I WANT TO USE STRONG CONTRAST AND LIGHTS.
